How to Play Keno
Keno is part-lottery, part-bingo, with some unique rules of its own in the mix as well, and this creates a game experience like no other.
With four games per day, it's also one of the most active lottery games in the world, and wagers can range from $1 up to as much as $100 per line.
It's also unusual in that the player decides how many numbers to pick - from just one, up to ten numbers per line, from a pot of 80 balls.
Depending on how many numbers you choose, your odds of matching with the 20 balls drawn from the pot will change - and the prizes paid out change too (see the table below for a full breakdown of how this will affect what you win).
To play Keno, you will need to decide:
- How many numbers to pick.
- How much to wager.
Together, these will determine your odds of a win, and how much you get - it's also important to know when you haven't won too.
For instance, matching three numbers is a win if you only chose six. But choose seven to ten numbers, and you'll get nothing for matching three.
There is also a kind of 'bad beat' consolation prize if you chose ten numbers and did not match with any of the 20 balls drawn, and you'll get $3 back for a $1 wager.
Draws take place daily at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and you can enter right up to the time of the draw, and then immediately start playing the next draw - making Keno a great option if you don't want to wait too long to find out if you've won.
Dips
Like in the main Lotto game, Dips choose your numbers at random for you, and you can wager on multiple draws in this way too.
Again, your prize will depend on how much you wager, and the table below shows how this is worked out, and how much the total cost will be depending on how many draws you play:

Steps for Playing Keno
- Decide how many numbers you want to play - up to ten.
- Choose your numbers from the range 1-80.
- Choose how much you want to wager, either $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10, $20, $50 or $100 per line.
- Choose which draw times you want to enter - 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Choose how many draws you want to enter - from 1-10, 14, 20 or 28.
Prize Tiers
Prizes depend on how many numbers you played on the relevant line, with higher payouts for more difficult matches including matching all ten of your chosen numbers from the 20 drawn from the pot.
To check if you have won, first find your Prize Group (i.e. how many numbers you played) and then look across to see if there is a prize for how many matches you got.
Your wager acts as a multiplier - so prizes for a $10 wager are ten times as big as for a $1 wager, and so on.
The 'Odds' column below shows the chances of winning any prize in that Prize Group, so you can decide whether to aim for the biggest payouts, or the best odds.
